Hi everyone

I was looking for an advice if any one can help me .I am a foreign student with bachelor of science in nursing and a master of science in nursing. I was graduated in Albania in Europe.I just moved in US and soon i will be a mother .By the time I am pregnant and no one hires me in this condition i was thinking to get back to studies and study for NCLEX PN .My previous experience include 1 year pharmacy tech at CVS ,1 year secretary of Neurosurgery Department in Albania where I am from and 2 years as EEG tech at Neurology Department .My English is not perfect and there are a lot of words that I might not understand .But I would say that is 80% good .I have read a lot in internet for months about NCLEX exam about preparation etc but I was looking for an advice what should I do ? Should I study by myself at home for NCLEX PN ? Is that very difficult of should I look for a course ?

If you have a BSN & MSN why are you not applying for a RN license by examination as an internationally educated nurse. You might want to avail yourself of an ESL class at your local library or HS (free) as one reason for the less than 30% NCLEX pass rate for internationally educated nurses is the language challenges. Have you even applied to a BoN?. A large number of BoN require proof of English language proficiency as a condition of licensure.

Thank you for your replay.I really appreciate that.I never applied for BoN but i will .Whats the difference between NCLEX PN and NCLEX RN .Cuz i googled and it was saying that for NCLEX RN you should have an associate degree and for NCLEX PN you should have MSN and BSN which I have .Is that NCLEX RN is easier ?

No. Your source is inaccurate NCLEX-PN is not a BSN/MSN degree it's a practical nurse most often not degreed but completed a 12-18 month practical nursing diploma program. LPNs practice under the direction of an RN, APN, MD, DO, DMD, or DDS. LPNs post graduation take the NCLEX-PN. Many LPNs will go on to further their education and become an RN and have advanced standing by one or two semesters in an RN program based upon active LPN licensing.

RN's take the NCLEX-RN and may have graduated a 2yr ASN, 3yr hospital based diploma, or 4 year BSN. Some with degrees in other disciplines take an accelerated BSN or direct entry generalist MSN degree as entry to practice. Post graduation you take the NCLEX-RN as part of the licensing process.

In the U.S. there are different MSN programs some educational (MSN in clinical or nursing education) technical (MSN in nursing informatics), administrative (MSN in administration or nurse management) or clinical/advance practice nurses. There are clinical nurse specialists (CNS), advanced practice nurses (specialized in acute care adult or pediatrics, family practice, psychiatric, primary care geriatrics, adult or pediatrics, nurse anesthesia, neonatology) with provider status and in some states practice independent of physicians.

In order to be an APN you must be an RN first. To be an RN you must follow the procedures of your state board of nursing for licensing by examination as an IEN. Once your credentials are assessed you are given authorization to register for and take the NCLEX-RN. Once licensed you follow the BoN procedures if your MSN education qualifies for an advanced clinical role to gain certification/licensure as an APN.

NCLEX-RN is not easier than NCLEX-PN, those that have taken both find them similar in difficulty. LPNs have a lesser scope of practice and require more oversight and the nursing education is not as in depth.
