Foreign Nurse looking to go from RN to BSN

Published

I have been for an RN nurse for a long time (10 of those years in NY) and I was thinking about furthering my studies and going for BSN. I have got my paper work done through CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) previously.

I wanted to earn my degree through online courses mostly because I also want to keep working on regular job on the side. I was wondering if it was better to complete this through New York schools even if I choose to do it completely online.

Secondly, since it has been a while and also far away, it is really difficult for me to acquire my transcript from the nursing school that I attended. There is a good chance they might not even have my transcript because it was such a long time ago. I know some schools value CGFNS and they will work directly with CGFNS without needing the transcript. If needed, I do have some report cards that show all my grades but no official transcript from the school. I wanted to know if there is any way of figuring out which schools accept CGFNS and don't require transcripts directly from the school. I know some schools do CGFNS but still require transcripts, and sadly that won't be that useful for me.

This is my first post on this site and so do let me know if you need more information or if I am more likely to get the right advice if I post this in a different area. Thank you for any help you can provide.
