foreign graduate having a hard time looking for job

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am a foreign graduate from the Philippines and i'm having a hard time to look for a nursing job(given the current economic situation). I graduated in 2009 and was able to only take and pass my NCLEX last march 2011 due to some paper delays from my school and also i failed the first time i took the exam.

Currently i'm kinda lost of what other options i should take. i have applied both online and personal on almost all the facilities near my vicinity and also reached at least 60 miles away just to find work. No luck never received any call for an interview I also did consider going out of state but since i just move here to CA financial is one problem that hinders me.

Another concern i have is that since it's been 2 years already i'm thinking employers don't see me competent enough to perform nursing duties compared to those new grad..I never had the chance to work as a nurse besides the clinical rotations we had in school.

I really need some advice on what else I can do..i'm just having a hard time coz i really don't know a lot of people here..

I would really love to hear from people who has the same experience as me or from people who experienced it and was able to overcome it and share to me the things they need to do..

oh btw, currently i am looking for some refresher courses and even jobs outside nursing..i don't know what else to do...:nurse:

Many people are in the same boat. Places just aren't hiring non-experienced nurses, right now.
