Foreign graduate currently licensed in NM applying for reciprocity in MA

Published

Hey everyone:

I graduated in the Philippines and just passed the NCLEX-RN exam. I am currently licensed under NM jurisdiction. I am planning to apply for reciprocity in MA. I just want to know if anyone out there has the same situation or knows about this process. Other states, such as NY and NV, require a verification from CGFNS. It's unclear to me if I need to apply for verification from CGFNS as well. What are the requirements for a foreign graduate applying for reciprocity in MA? Inputs from anyone are very much appreciated!

Are you referring to NM, as in New Mexico or North Mariana?

In either case, did you look at the requirements from the MA BON site? I'm sure as with most application forms, there's a checklist and pretty simple to follow. Print it out and line out each requirements that you currently know of or met already.

There are usually references to "international applicants", just follow those instructions.

I take it that you have a SS# to work in the States, as I think NM has the same thing like in CA, without providing the particular state's BON with a SS#, there's no license to endorse. You can see if MA requires a SS# along with the non-refundable application fees.

In regards to the CGFNS, if MA requires it, then give it to them, if not, you're good to go.

Thank you for the reply steppybay! NM=New Mexico. Yes, I have a SS#. Yea, I looked at the MA BON site and it didn't say anything about requiring a credential verification for international students. I guess, MA isn't that strict like other states. :) It just said if the program wasn't taught in English, then I would have to get a certificate or something like that, but I don't think that applies to me since my program was in English. I guess I was just surprised that MA doesn't require credential verification. In any case, I hope this is an easy process! :) Thanks a lot!

HI Rienica,

Hmmmm......you might want to check this out and see what you make of it. You took the NCLEX-RN in NM state and passed, congrats!

But there's this thing posted on their BON site and the thing is graduating from an outside location, but it wasn't a U.S. territory, even though, your textbooks and courses were all in English.

Maybe best to write to the MA BON via e-mail to get better clarification.

Thanks for the info. I didn't see this. You are good at researching. lol. I will email the MA BON. My credentials evaluation was completed by ERES. I hope that doesn't mean that I have to apply for CGFNS to be evaluated. Thanks again!

I emailed MA BON. They said that there's no need to evaluate again once the applicant has passed the NCLEX. :)
