Hi,
So i am a BSN graduate from the Philippiines and just received a letter from BRN that I need to retake the whole nursing program cause of the our curriculum doesn’t meet CA standards. so I am looking for options.
I currently work as an LVN right now so I am wondering for somebody who didn’t actually had a vocational nurse program am I allowed to do the LVN-RN bridge option?? I was able to challenges the NCLEX-PN exam through BVNPT’s method 3 which is qualification based on equivalent education.
Pls advice. thanks

My understanding is the U.S. imports many graduates from the Philippines to meet the nursing shortage. Can you try another state to get your RN from? Maybe a state this is more used to foreign educated nurses?
As far as the LVN-RN option it will depend on the program. Some programs require only a LVN(LPN) license however other programs require specific pre-requisite classes. I suggest looking at actual program requirements.
I am actually on the process of applying to Nevada for RN licensing but I’m afraid that once I got my RN license in Nevada and apply for endorsement to CA my application will be denied again for the same reason. that is why I’m also interested in LVN-RN bridge. I just want to get that RN license ..
Also I recently read somewhere that if you get a job with the Veteran’s Affair as long as you have a valid RN license you can work any state ?? Do you have any knowledge on this? Thank you

if your overall plan is to stay in California then you will as you mention correctly be still affected when trying to endorse. This issue is something that has been ongoing for several years and there are a few schools offering makeup courses. Have a search through this forum and the International Nursing forum for threads discussing this subject
I was told by one of the community college that I inquired in that I can do the LVN 30 unit option since traditional LVN-RN doesn’t apply to me since I am an IEN.
