Reason why the sign on bonus is so high is because it's on the border. Many Texas hospitals in that region are notorious for having a very high turn over and not so great positions.

According to wikipedia that town eagle pass is the 9th poorest county in the country.

Ft Duncan has high turnover rate. Have known several nurses to be lured by this and wished they'd never seen the ad once they go there. This place has been offering high salaries/bonuses for more than a decade that I have been aware of. You'd think if it was so great that they wouldn't need to keep advertising after all these years.
