I just had 2 interviews last Monday at two different hospitals in Pittsburgh. Got invited to come in Wednesday to shadow a couple units of interest to me and got a phone call yesterday afternoon from the nurse recruiter unofficially offering me a job on the Cardiac unit i shadowed....pending my background investigation and references! I can't say I'm disappointed....only had to deal with wearing my business suit and heels for one day :)
I dont think its too early...I only did it last week b/c it was my spring break and I was visiting Pitt where I'll be moving to so I can be with my fiance. I actually came right out and asked if me not being available until June was a problem. The nurse manager I met with for my interview on Monday told me when she finds someone that's a good fit for the unit she is willing to wait a few months for them...in fact she told me she had hired a girl that can't start until September! I'd say the sooner you get your resume/apps in and have your interviews you will have a better chance than the ones who wait til May...especially if you make a good impression on a unit manager. That was the unit where I was offered the job for yesterday...she really liked me and it was a good thing I sent them my app in January and set this interview up for spring break!
