For a better living standard/environment, which one is better? Kanas ctiy or Phoenix?

U.S.A. Kansas

Any nurses have expeirences to tell the pros and cons of either Kansas City or Phoenix? I have two daughters, I want them grow up in a nice environment. Also, I consider the financial benefits too.

Thanks,

Never been to Kansas City, but my guess would be that it would be a better environment to raise children in. I spent 7 years in the Phoenix suburbs and both my daughters were born there. I loved it and wasnt ready to return to the PNW, but our situation changed and it was our best option. I did however, know that I did not want to raise my children there. Too much concrete sprawl...and the school systems had their issues. I have always felt that the midwest would hold a simpler and kinder lifestyle......

I do miss those warm days floating in the pool at the house that we could never afford here where we are now!!!

Oh, one more thing......

THE WAGES SUCKED.

Phoenix is hideously hot. Kansas City gets ice storms. Pick your poison.

:o I visited Phoenix several times when I was a kid and it is way too hot! I also heard recently that Phoenix was number #1 for car thieves.

I can't remember the exact website off the top of my head, but if you do a search on "cost of living" you should be able to find some sites that will let you compare the cost of living between several cities. One site I looked at also compared things like crime rates, average salaries, average housing costs, etc.

I've never been to Phoenix or anywhere near there, so I can't give an opinion about it at all. I do, however, live two hours south of Kansas City & have all my life. I have lots of family that live up there, and they all love it. There are tons of suburbs, and there are lots of nice small towns within driving distance that would be nice places to raise children.
