i'll tell you what does sound "norm" to me and thats the # of issues your having right now. my class had tons of problems with similar issues and our instructor was "out on med leave" as well so we went from instructor to instructor. im so not surprised by the problems your having. things are easing now, and we are in the groove of things. the first few weeks they really made it difficult for us and i understand what you're going through. as far as giving you hope, i will say stick it through. things have gotten better for my class and we have a steady instructor now, but at the beginning everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. the workload? well, the first few days, yeah they gave us alot of reading, but not that much. im really sorry you're going through that. since your now in the school you must feel helpless and in a way you are because you're at the mercy of the school and curriculum. not having a syllabus? thats ridiculous.

our first exam is coming up in about a week and half...the instructor said something about a 'study guide' that they give to you. she said 40 questions or so are on that guide, and 50 questions for the exam...

She said if you focus on the study guide, you will have no issues with the exam...do you find this study guide to be your sure bet? i was very surprised that they have a study guide like this....it really eliminates the stress of not knowing what is on the exam, but it almost seems too good to be true. can it be THAT easy?

what's been your experience with the study guides and the exams there?

I have never gotten a study guide. Every teacher is different though, mine right now just tells us what to "focus on" and we go by that but before she started doing that i just read the chapter, did the workbook (rosdahl) and DO THE ATI....a study guide or 'telling us what to focus on" is a privelage and my cousin (who is term 3) says that she NEVER got any of those luxuries, so i am just thankful for it and take what help is given to me. sorry to say that i have never gotten that study guide you speak of so i cant vouch for it's effectivity. i could only hope that it helps you...stick it out, it does get smoother...

wow. so this is really not the 'norm'? hmmm. I won't get too attached to this concept since this is only our sub. You said that your class did not have the original instructor as well, so is your class working through that? I take it your class is going better for you.

I definitely plan on sticking it out - lol ....i am pretty invested at this point, so there is not much i can do :no:

oh, i guess you got your laptop and ipod by now, how do you like the lap top? good quality? or so so....?

what do you use your ipod for? i was looking online at some flashcard apps, i think that is a great idea...it beats lugging around 50 lbs of books and multiple flashcards....do you or anyone you know have this app? if so, how are they liking it?

we do have our permanent teacher now, but they can change from course to course, so we might not have her for next course (class) but yeah we had 3 teachers for the course: nursing fundamentals which is waht you're in right now. it has gotten better and smoother but keep in mind we're very fresh as well! so i only speak off 3 months exp. but it has gotten better and i hope it does for your class..

the lap top is a "notebook laptop" which means its the smaller carry around ones. i havent even touched the itouch yet really because i not too electronic device handy, but im sure there are many apps that are helpful, i just havent had the time to research apps.

the books are still 50lb books!!! LOL essp. the rosdahl, have u gotten the books yet? are u monday/wed night? have u had a clinical yet>? if so i think i heard a rumor that your clinical went awful...is that true?:cry:

it's saturday and your class is pt-k i believe and is right next to my class. were in the class across the hall from you guys. my clinical group came back to the campus after a half day at kindred of orange. hope your clinical went okay? i see u guys have miss sandy, she was really nice with our group, hopefully u enjoyed her as well!

yeah :) today was our FIRST clinical at the skills lab. it was fun...hehe....lots of bed making, handwashing and sterile field gloves....tomorrow we get to bath each other. did you guys have to do this? some of the people in our class freaked a little with the concept. i honestly don't see what the issue is...we will be fully clothed with shorts and a tank, and we will not do private parts (of course!!!).

was this your first on sight clinical? do you mean you were only there half the day and then back to school? how did it go? are you enjoying this journey? and oh, they did confirm to our class that we are the ones that they have decided to add MATH along with the other curriculums. so we have lots of math ahead in this term, we did some today and will have more to come.

math is not my strong point, but i am glad to know that we are being eased into it so that by the time we get to dosage calcs I won't feel so rusty.

do you guys go tomorrow too? yeah miss Sandy is very nice.

yeah, bed baths are no biggie.

math is important so that is good that theyre practicing more, yeah towards the end of the day i walked by your class and they were doing math on the board :imbar

LOL..

we had a half day orientation at Kindred of Orange LTC Facility and the other half we came back to the school.

My goal was to get my LVN only to apply to the LVN-RN bridge programs at local community colleges and try to bypass the long wait. I'm not familiar with the wait now but when I had my prenursing prereqs done it was 3 years. I got my LVN, applied to local colleges ASAP, waited a year for notification and I got in. I waited two years and have nursing experience.

Stanbridge helped a lot as far as ATI & NCLEX questions went. I was fortunte enough to have great clinical intstructors. I also liked the PDA drug guides and plan on buying one after I finish my RN.
