For anyone that failed NCLEX-1st Attempt

Published

Okay, I just graduated from my nursing program. My GPA was a 3.4 throughout my nursing program. I'm was just wondering, if you failed the NCLEX the first time, how were your grades during your nursing program and why you felt you failed your 1st attempt at the NCLEX. I'm not trying to judge anyone, I just want to learn from others. Thanks.

Hi. Some background before I answer your question. I graduated in May of this year. I did not pass the first time. I struggled in nursing school getting C's. Took a review prep course took NCLEX b/c I had a job lined up. Also failed a 2nd time. Now preparing a third time and lining up with Suzzane's program using the Saunder's book. In total, I think I'm slower than most, suffer from anxiety, and needed a good plan. Now, I'm hoping I'm on track, getting better each day by learning to give myself grace, and studying per Suzzane's plan. I sure I'm more the exception than the rule. Hope that is helpful. Thanks for your post.

Hi Kida! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Wishing you the best of luck and just remember, you know more than you think, otherwise you wouldn't have passed the nursing program.

Btw, what happened to the job you had lined up. Did they hold for you?

Specializes in peds,home care, dietican.

I graduated May 2008 and my grades were mostly B+. I took the NCLEX in August and failed it. I had also taking the Kaplan review course too. I think more so on my part it was because I was working a full time GN job. Although I was studying all the time I think my mind was not absorbing the information that I thought I was. So I quit my job to give the NCLEX my full divided attention from mid Septemeber till Dec. I just took my NCLEX on Dec 10. I'm still waiting for results. I know in my heart that this time around I studied, did practice questions and also prayed in order for me to PASS. Just hang in there and don't give up!!!!! :saint:I would suggest that you take a 1 week break for yourself just to clear your mind and relax. I didn't get a chance to do Suzanne's Plan but I used Saunders to study this time around and just used Kaplan for their qbank questions. I wish you the best of luck and just hang in there you can do it!!!!!!!!!
