Hello....any recent advice/ commentary on starting a foot care business? There is an old thread, but I'm wondering if there is anything more recent from any foot care nurses...thanks so much. I am on my way next week to Rainier Med in WA for training, hopefully to complete certification and begin a business...any help or comments would be appreciated...Debbie
Glad to see that someone is breathing some life into foot care again on the forum. I completed my foot care training from emory a few yrs ago and received the CFCN certification in 2016 but have never put it to work. I became discouraged after reaching out to the Tennessee state boards and them informing me of all of these processes I would need to complete to get the business going. However, I am starting to regain some interest in this again. I have been working as an NP and can feel myself having the urge once again to own my own business. I think I may reach out to the board once again and see what I need to do to get going...dreading this though. I think I honestly will need to go through training once again as well due to it being so long since I actually worked on someone's feet. Message me if anyone wants to connect for ideas, support etc. Love to associate with like minded and like-interests people. Happy day nurses!!
Hi..I am a RN and have done several years of foot care working in a diabetic clinic. I am also a wound care nurse, but retired a few years ago. I had no idea so many nurses had started their own businesses:). This is wonderful to have this resource and I am sure I'll be looking into getting certified, but I live in the hinterlands of eastern Montana, so it may be awhile. I was wondering if I can legally do foot care, independently, without a foot care certification? Thanks so much!
Hello! I am very mich interested in starting a foot care business. I have done a ton of research and have a hard time finding a clear cut answer as to if I am legally able to operate as a independent RN providing foot care without a provider in my state of SC.
I contacted the Board of Nursing and spoke with an advisor who states I need to operate under a MD or PA or perhaps obtain nail tech license. ?
I have obtained the SCBON Advisory opinion on foot care. They state 3 levels of care and it doesn't mention a MD or APRN until level 3 when impaired function and circulation is mentioned.
I really want to begin my entrepreneurial journey however I want a safe practice and NOT a lawsuit.
Any advice?
I have started my own foot are business in the past 4 months but I live in TN. Check out the foot and nail Institute, Heather Wilson she walks you step-by-step on how to start a foot care business she has lots of webinars and lots of useful information and I loved her program. For me and a lot of others RNs Kim work by their self for foot care because it falls under the Activities of daily living , Which you don’t need an order for from a doctor.
