Nursing Students NP Students

I just recently got accepted to the msn/FNP program at western and am having a hard time deciding whether to accept. Its an online program with seminar weekends and I'm hearing now that we have to find our own preceptors even though the school says its set up for us. Does anyone know anything about this program in California? My concern is that I won't be as prepared as other NP grads will be when I graduate. I also am wrestling with the fact that if I don't go, then I'll have to wait another year to apply to other schools. I'm just very confused at this point because I don't know if its a substantial enough of a program to prepare me.

Hi RNLA08,

If you miss a class during seminar weekend due to illness or anything else be prepared to take a year off and return next year (they will hold your seat). A girl in my program had a baby via C section on a Wednesday and was expected to be there Saturday, which she was both with her newborn baby and husband breastfeeding in between classes. I think the way they see it is if you are going to commit to the program it needs to be your number one priority. Sorry but hope this helps!

Hi Jollie and OCRN3,

I'm also thinking of applying to this program for a few reasons. Did you end up liking the whole program? Would you recommend it? I'm interested in their FNP program. How long it did it take you? Do you feel like you had the resources to complete the program as you would have liked it? Did you have trouble getting hired at your job of choice? Sorry about all the questions. I couldn't find a thread about WUHS.

Thank you!
