is FNP harder than nursing school

I'm a new nurse and plan on going back for me master's next fall........how hard is the FNP program compared to nursing school (BSN)? Just curious........some people say its easier than nursing school was........

Uh.. yeh... Not sure who told you that.

I graduated 3.9 GPA from my BSN without sweating too badly.

I'm working a whole lot harder just to understand the basics of 1000 page textbooks that are just for introductory courses! But then again, its a whole lot more interesting!

Grad school in my opinion is a lot of work. It's a ton of reading all the time, papers to write, research to do, presentations to give, and then there is even more reading to do after that. :) It's all at a more intense level too, since we now have to know how to diagnose and prescribe meds and treatments. But I think it is worth it.

Isn't it amazing how much reading we do?

For a 45 credit program, my syllabus contains close to 60 books! At least they're not all the same size as Harrisons! :)

There are some things that are different...not sure they are easier though. I pretty much had to do my BSN full-time. For my FNP, I can go at my own pace so in that aspect it is easier.

However, the amount of information per class is MASSIVE like others have mentioned. The reading is almost overwhelming and the level at which you are expected to know the information is most decidedly different. In undergrad, a lot of the information is sheer memory, in grad school you need to know the why, when and all sorts of differential information.
