Fluids & Electrolytes helpful websites?

Nursing Students Student Assist

I'm suffering through a f&e take-home midterm and although I usually lurk (have gathered TONS of useful information thank you all so much!) I'm probably going to be asking tons of questions this weekend.

F&E has become the bain of my existence. Any helpful websites? I ordered F&E made incredibly easy but it hasn't come yet (i think it got lost). We're using the Hogan Fluids, Electrolytes, & Acid-Base Balance text which is also helpful, although I don't think it gives as much analysis as my instructor would like. She really knows her 'lytes!

Thanks in advance,

corrie. . .these are links i have for information on acid-base balance and abgs that you will find helpful.

https://allnurses.com/forums/f199/easy-approach-acid-base-abnormalities-132845.html - good one page tutorial on acid-base balance

https://allnurses.com/forums/f121/acid-base-disorders-133110.html

http://www.acid-base.com/ - the home page of an interactive acid-base tutorial for medical students by professor alan grogono at tulane university, but there are things in it that are useful for nursing students. click on buttons throughout the presentation for more specific information. you might want to click on the "alphabetical index" at the left side to get a listing of the subjects covered on this site to save time. also, check out the "links" for more acid-base tutorial sites.

http://www.ekgusa.com/ceol/abgmap/abgindex.html - a ce offering on acid-base analysis of blood gas values. there is a pre-quiz and post quiz with explanations of metabolic or respiratory acidosis or alkalosis, combined and compensated. it is from ekg skillbuilders.

http://www.rnceus.com/course_frame.asp?exam_id=18&directory=abgs - interpretation of abgs, a ceu offering with good information about abgs and acid/base balance

Thank you so much!!!

I ended up becoming a bit of a fluids & electrolytes case study myself after coming down with the flu and vomiting all weekend. "A 33 year old female presents with a history of vomiting for two days, minimal intake, muscle aches...." :icon_roll

I will look these over between sips of water and gatorade and hopefully still get that midterm done by the end of they day.

Thanks again!
