Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hey all! I did not see a post created for this school yet so I figured I would make one. I am getting my application ready for submission in the next week or so. Let’s get this !

They called. I could hardly speak because I was expecting them to say that I was rejected. Somehow I muttered some reasonable response of gratitude ?

Congratulations! I know that is such a feeling of relief??

If you don’t mind me asking, how long did they give you to accept?

I have not heard anything either and I interviewed that Friday.

Hopefully we will hear something very soon! ?

The professors told us after the interviews were over, that this was one of the best list of candidates they have seen for interviews. Getting an interview means you were competitive and if you are waitlisted that doesn't mean you failed. It means that you are a highly competitive applicant and if there was more spots they would of choose you as well. Remember, the only nurses that do not get into CRNA school are the ones who stopped trying.

Did they reach out to the people that are waitlisted already? My application still says under review but I haven’t heard anything

I am in the same situation. I have not heard anything either.

If you have not heard anything yet, it is because they are waiting to finalize all 30 spots. If you are on the waitlist, you will not find out until this is done. I do know that some people that were invited did not accept due to getting into a program closer to home, personal reasons, or getting into their top choice school. When this happens they go to their alternate candidates. I myself did not find out I was waitlisted until mid March after my Feb interview last year. I was also an alternate that got pulled off the waitlist 4 weeks before classes started. We even had someone drop 2 weeks into the program and was replaced promptly in week 3 of our program.  What I am trying to say is that anything can happen. If you do not get in this year I know the professors look highly at those who take their advice to improve themselves in whatever area they are lacking and reapplied.

Invites went out today. If you did not hear one way or another it is because they are waiting for all invites to be accepted or declined. If someone declines they invite someone else to fill that spot. Once all 30 slots are full they will then send out waitlisted or rejection letters to the rest. Do not get discouraged, every year they have 2-3 people back out due to getting into another program closer to home/top choice or for personal reasons. I myself was a wait lister last year and was invited when someone dropped in march, 1 month before the program started and another of my cohort dropped 3 weeks into the program and they pulled another waitlisted to fill that spot as well. In total we had three pulled of the wait list in my cohort.  I hope this helps to clear things up a bit, and best of luck to everyone.  On a side note I had people in my cohort get called at 10pm at night the day invites went out and the day is not over yet.

How do you feel about the program now that you're in classes?  I haven't found much online regarding the program.

I have a good friend in the program. He started last year. He is happy with the program. He said the instructors are great and has had no problems so far.
I know the only thing (which I’m guessing is due to Covid) is the pass rate for the most recent cohort went down to 83% first time pass rates. He did speak to that and said the program was changing things to help.
Everything I hear is positive.
I’m applying again in 2023 and really hope to get admitted.

Oh interesting that the pass rate went down! I wonder if that was with the masters or doctoral degree cohort.  Did you apply last year?  I'm also looking to apply next year too for a 2024 start.  I grew up in that area so it would be really convenient to go to school there!

I actually applied last year and interviewed this past February and was not accepted. I grew up in the area as well and would like to be in the area! My friend did say he requested Pensacola as his top Clinical site and was given Tallahassee.
For my reapplication I have been working to strengthen my application. I’m taking a Biochemistry now, and I previously took Grad Pharm. I also started cross training into CTICU.

The last masters cohort will graduate this December. They have made a few changes so far that were to address the pass rate decrease and it should be reflected in the rates for the next graduating cohort. I found the instructors to be helpful, passionate, and really invested in our success.
