  1. I thought that Friday was the last day. Good to know! I think they call with an invitation?
  2. Has anyone heard from current a SRNA or alumni about their opinion of the program? I know during the info session we heard from current SRNAs (in front of the director) but I’m curious to know what they honestly think, I can’t find a lot of information regarding opinions. .
  3. Hi! I have an interview for the new cohort and hoping a current SRNA at FGCU will tell me about their experience thus far with the program? Pro & Cons… anything a potential student should consider ahead of time that you find helpful. Thank you!!
  4. I actually applied last year and interviewed this past February and was not accepted. I grew up in the area as well and would like to be in the area! My friend did say he requested Pensacola as his top Clinical site and was given Tallahassee. For my reapplication I have been working to strengthen my application. I’m taking a Biochemistry now, and I previously took Grad Pharm. I also started cross training into CTICU.
  5. I have a good friend in the program. He started last year. He is happy with the program. He said the instructors are great and has had no problems so far. I know the only thing (which I’m guessing is due to Covid) is the pass rate for the most recent cohort went down to 83% first time pass rates. He did speak to that and said the program was changing things to help. Everything I hear is positive. I’m applying again in 2023 and really hope to get admitted.

  7. Sounds awful. I do know this feeling. I am going on to pursue a graduate degree. One thing I would suggest is looking into nurse informatics and nurse analytics... no bedside care. The business side of nursing/healthcare. I am seriously considering it. I'm not sure if going back to school is an option for you but... I have heard nurses getting certificates/degrees in informatics. A good program is through USF. I will link it here. You are not stuck at bedside...I promise. You may have to get a certification or two but if you want out you have options. Another thing that you should do is ask yourself if you could do anything in the world and enjoy it..what would it be? Try to choose something similar, I think there is nursing in every area of a company one way or another. Enjoy Beauty? Try esthetic nursing and injection nursing. I have a nurse I worked with who hated bedside and is a phone triage nurse for an Erectile dysfunction medication LOL. She loves it. For jobs that are heard to get into or highly sought after, go in person and show them you want the position. Don't let this job do this to you. You may have to hunt your way out, but start looking at indeed, Linked In jobs. Take care of yourself! You got this! Best of luck!
  8. Hello? I wanted to see what opinions other nurses have on this topic. A little background on me... I am a trauma/medical/surgical critical care nurse. I started as a new grad in a residency program 2.5 years ago. I really enjoy it, I respond as the level 1 trauma nurse, rapid response, and code nurse regularly and have the opportunity to precept/teach all the time which I love. As I am a more senior nurse on my unit (yes at 2.5 years, I am a senior there LOL) We get pretty bad traumas and some very sick MICU patients. It's the only level 2 trauma facility in the county and we get sick patients sent to us. I am actively applying to CRNA school so I am looking to strengthen my resume. Recently, my director asked if I would like to cross-train into the CVICU. I like the idea of having this experience on my resume for CRNA school, I am hesitant to cross-train because... 1. The CVICU is being expanded to 8 beds from 6, staffing is HORRIBLE there already. So I know I am being used to fill staffing gaps in both units now. The 8 beds will be on a unit with MICU patients so the admin's idea is to use TSICU/MICU RN's and "cross train" them to help with staffing. 2. When I asked how long I would be given to orient/train with recovering hearts/balloon pumps/impellas, I was told "We will see"... I am wanting formal training in recovering hearts and devices used. The surgeon is VERY particular and is not the nicest person to work with, so a good orientation would be crucial to survival. 3. I have been floated to the CVICU from the exact day I said I would like to cross-train. I was given a balloon pump and a swan-Ganz cath and expected to take the two patients after a very brief run-through of the balloon pump...I felt very pressured to take these patients by upper management who actually stated..."what's the problem...the line just sits there..." 4. While I don't need to cross-train, I want to show the CRNA schools I am serious about getting in and am willing to go the extra mile to learn and take on this new realm of patients. 5. I have not set up my cross-training days but all of my future shifts were just switched from the MICU to CVICU by management, I won't be training yet, just filling in and taking post-CABG patients waiting for transfer to the step-down unit. So really not helpful...as I have routinely taken these patients. Nervous I am the one being used just to fill in their staffing problems, I see this turning into a "sure we will cross-train you..." and really it's just 3 days of "training" and I never get the sick hearts. I think my willingness to help is being taken advantage of... I appreciate any advice!
  9. Mine were wrong as well
  10. When did you receive the email from Kathy? I'm trying to figure out if my email is slow on updating. I received it this morning around 8:30.
  11. I made a 102 overall. What about you?
  12. Hi! I applied for the fall 2017 semester also. I'm ready to know already!!
