FLORIDA - Self Reporting to BON

Nurses Recovery

Published

I self-reported a DWI to the Florida BON. I called a couple of times to check the status of my case. The BON hasn't returned my call and the status of my license is still active. I find this odd. Anyone have a similar experience? It's been a few months.

I self reported alcohol and drug addiction 3 1/2 hrs ago and haven’t heard a word .. license is active and I’ve renewed twice! I met with an investigator and never heard back. I’ve been through rehab and active in AA and celebrate recovery so when they do get up with me I pray I’m good. I’m in Mississippi

Good luck!

Years not hrs!! Lol . Bet u figured that out though ?

After I self reported, it was several weeks before I received a certified letter rom the board. The letter stated I was to cease working upon notification (I was already in rehab). My status online never changed and was listed as "active" even though I was not to practice. Hope this helps.

Oh ok. I never received a certified letter. That’s weird . Thanks

The BON takes their own sweet time! I called reguarly for the first year then quit! Im like "if you want me, you will contact me." Its hard to wait though. I understand. I found a RN job where I don't handle narcotics. Im the infection control nurse in a LTC. Surely I can keep this job after everything comes to the surface- at least I pray so anyway.
