I am not talking in this post regarding so-called students who PAID for a degree with out completing the assignments (written or verbal), tests, clinical practice, leadership activities, etc. All parts of a curriculum a graduate must complete. I am directing this to those who DID.

There have been some lawsuits on record that opposed the legitimacy of a schools programs and gave monetary compensation. YOU, The student did NOT do anything illegal...the school did something that interfered with the students program/graduation and subsequent licensure mainly keeping state approval. The mechanism for keeping  RN school approval has been instituted by the Florida Department of education and the FBON for 3-5 years.

For those of you who went to Carleen: Once again: here is what is stated in the Carleen Student Handbook:

  Quote

All fees paid by the student to CHI, except for the registration fee, are refundable.

If you went to another school check your handbook for language about tuition.

I feel the AN participants calling us 'trolls' may have an interest in this NOT going to court or mediation. That is my feeling as we have seen some obstructionists' on this particular subject. and these posters only post on this topic.  Remember, some of these school owners are still having LPN programs, still collecting $$ tuition, (living on  what YOU paid for your RN program) have homes and roots in their community. These negligent RN educators do NOT want to lose it all.

Since many of you became friends during your education could you organize a group to see an RN education attorney for a first free visit?

"What states approve your RN endorsement? I'm currently in the process of endorsing to NJ and I went to Carleen health institute. I've been pending my NJ RN license for over a year now. NJ BON asked me to fill out 26 questions about Carleen health institute, about tuition, schooling, where did I take my clinical, ect. Now they are asking for proof of me living in FL while attending Carleen Health institute. I'm slowly giving up hope..."

"Is it because Carleen is under investigation? I hope they are not doing this to all schools. "

Hi, to give you an answer I'm a RN that also went to Carleen. The NJ board is very strict. The only way they're going to endorse your license is for you to fill out the questionnaire. Yes I know??‍♀️ otherwise they're not going too. I think they pick at random. My friend didn't go through that. It's because of the low pass rates.  The school isn't any help at all, and they won't assist you. And I think the investigation plays a part too. Your going to have to upgrade your license and use your mulistate to work in NJ.

South Florida actually does have some really good nursing programs . Sadly, Fl  also has a serious issue with corruption.  I graduated from Broward College ( formally known as Broward Community College ) in 2002. The program was rigorous but it was comprehensive and at the time had a high NCLEX pass rate(still has a high 80s pass rate). University of Miami has a NCLEX pass rate in the high 90s.  Nova Southeastern University, FIU and FAU are also very good schools.

There is a common denominator with the schools I mentioned,  these schools are regionally AND nationally accredited! They have a proven record.

You should avoid programs that operate like a conveyor belt, and simply care about profits over quality.

There is no easy way to become a nurse, and if a program's entry is easy, chances are the program lacks gold standard accreditations. The programs also more than likely have an extremely low NCLEX pass rate. If you ignore this fact, the risk is on you and the public.

It appears that some do not care how they become a nurse, but only that they are a nurse.

The lack of standardization, has really hurt the nursing profession in terms of nursing quality and elevation of the profession .

3. UNACCREDITED OR USES A '"SISTER SCHOOL"

Yes, I saw that "Capscare Academy" recently restarted their program and is using a sister school.

Also, for anyone looking at them, please do your homework and Google the school and contact your state BON to see if they will accept them.

I believe Maryland was no longer taking them before they shut down and restarted. So double check before signing up to anything.

Apparently these schools are being investigated by the Florida BON

Carleen Health Institute of South Florida, West Palm Beach (#5075)
Med-Life Institute, Lauderdale Lakes (#3097)
Myrielle School of Nursing, Palm Springs (#7741)
Nursing Bridges Institute, Pensacola (#6138)
Palm Beach International College, Lake Worth (#7659)
Suncoast College of Health, Bradenton (#3214)
Techni-Pro Institute, LLC., Boca Raton (#2671)

Capscare

Oh my goodness what school is not being investigated. This is crazy I don't understand why these schools just won't do right.

Thank you so much?
