Florida PN program graduate can ake NCLEX in Louisiana & apply for license?

Published

Hi!

Could somebody please kindly answer:

I just finished LPN school in Florida (reviewing for NCLEX). I am planning to move and work in Louisiana. Do I understand it correctly that you are only allowed to take NCLEX PN in the state where you finished PN program, be licensed in that state and then apply for an additional license in some other state? Or would it be realistic at all to hope to take NCLEX PN in Louisiana and apply for license there?

Thank you for your reply in advance

to be absolutely certain about nursing regulations, i suggest you contact your state board of nursing (florida). if you cannot get through to them, try louisiana's state board of nursing. they may be able to assist you. the national council of state boards of nursing (ncsbn) controls all this. the directory for all state boards of nursing is located at: https://www.ncsbn.org/515.htm just click on the state of interest (florida and/or louisiana). hopefully you can take it in louisiana. i have heard that florida has the "3 strikes and you're out" policy (take/fail nclex 3 times and you cannot test again until you complete a review course).

hope the website is helpful!

louisiana is a fun place. i'm sure you will enjoy it!!
