My husband & I would like to spend the winter in Florida.....somewhere from Ft Myers down....not picky ( just want it to be warm). If you wouldn't mind taking the time to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!....what area to stay in....where to work (ER nurse).....What type of pay to expect.

We don't care for a lot of night life.....just simple things. Of course if I am there I would like to be close to the Ocean! Thanks for your help!:)

Ahhh come on......a little help please. :)

I live in fort myers and going to nursing school now and a friend of mine works for NHC in Naples and she just works seasonal (winter). Here is the link for there website http://www.nchmd.org/ that is l the info I have hopefully that helps. I believe they have a program just for seasonal employees. Naples is really nice, more expensive than Fort Myers or Cape Coral and more of an older population.

Hope this helps and good luck to ya

Thank you so much for taking time to help! Good luck to you in school....& thanks for the link.

Have you decided yet? I spent some time in Cape coral. I loved it and am hoping to get back this winter...Jan to May. Cape Coral Hospital is very nice also.

No I haven't.....I need to hurry up & make up my mind though. My husband & I plan to move to Florida later....just looking for now. He would have to make some arrangements with his job, & find something for the winter months there also. We have friends in Ft Myers & I thought this would be a good way to start.

I would have to get a Florida license so that will take some time. Do you work in the ER there? If so what is it like? If you have time to tell me anything about the area & hospital......I am all ears. Thanks for your help!:wink2:

I worked for a SNF in Fort Myers Beach....was nice after I got over my own culture shock. But....I think there are better yet....I find pay is pretty compatiable to what I was used to...little less...but I also found they have more competition for jobs than I am used to. After all what nurse doesn't want to winter in a nice warm place that hates snow!:)

There is so much to do there I never could be bored. I love the flea markets and the ocean. The beaches and the outdoor restaurants on the water. I find in the summer many places have huge 50% sales.

This time I am contemplating working for a staffing agency at a few places to figure out exactly where I want to be. I have a good idea but I will not return to the place I worked at.

I lived in a beautiful new condo in a quieter area of Cape Coral and I hope to get back into that same community when I go again.

I know someone that has worked in Cape and Hewalthpark ER and says its not bad, Cape is gettting ready to expand their ER to I believe 48 beds. Healthpark has a peds ER also. Although last I heard that Lee health system is on a hiring freeze right now.
