Hello!

Is there anyone here with any insight as far as Hillsborough Community College Nursing program? I am taking my last prereq (A&P 2) and will be applying for the Fall 06 starting class. I'd love to hear any experiences, good or bad.

Thanks!

I got my EMT through HCC in the early 90's and did a few of my prereqs. there as well for the nursing program, but never finished as we started moving around all over the place. Now I'm back in school but I'm a couple hours south of you. I'm not sure how the nursing program is but I've heard there is a wait list. Good luck! Which campus are you looking at, I've used all of them at one time or another.

I have been attending HCC and will be applying for the nursing program in the future. I was told by the student advisors that they only accept 200 students for the basic program and 100 for the LPN transitional program.

I too thought there was a waiting list but there isn't it is just very competive on getting into one of these programs.

Good Luck!

I graduated from the RN program at HCC almost two years ago (december will be two years).

WE were the first night-program offered there, so in a way, we were guinea pigs as well. But overall, I think the program is pretty good. Like all, it suffers in some areas, not in others. As far as I'm aware (and I think I know for certain) all of my class passed NCLEX -though some of us took it a second time (I was among them) we are all working in the nursing world at one place or another.

My advice is to go through with it, and if you can, hedge your bets by applying at other schools as well (the candidates are many, the seats are not). You can always turn an admission down. You can't always get an open slot.

Good luck!

If I don't make it into this January's admission at St. Pete College (I'm on their alternate list), I'll be applying to both HCC and St. Pete for the fall of '06.

I finished up my pre-reqs in the Spring '05 semester and applied for Spring '06 admission. I sent in my application in May and didn't receive an acceptance letter till Aug or Sept. It was stressful not knowing and all. I heard it's very competitive, so I am very excited to be accepted.
