Florida International University (FIU) CRNA Spring 2024 Start

Didn't see this topic posted, so posting now! Trying to see who's applying for FIU's CRNA program since the application window is opening soon!

Hi guys! I just sent the request to the FB group. I didn't have FB but I just created one in order to be in touch with the group. My name is David, but in the profile it shows as Dave Mas. If someone could, please, accept the request, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance ?

Congrats to everyone who was accepted. Does anyone have any updates about the waitlist or has anyone else who has not posted been accepted off the waitlist? How many people are on the waitlist? would anyone recently accepted off the waitlist like to share their stats?

I submitted my application on 9/5 and haven't heard anything back from Barry. Is that normal?

Hey, from what I remember them saying in the interview, they utilize a point system including whether or not you've shadowed and if you have your CCRN. Two major, big, and important things. If you want chances of an interview or being considered, I'd definitely do those two things asap! Also, with it getting more competitive each year, your objective should always be to be the most competitive applicant. They had over 400 applications last year from my understanding. Good luck!!

thank you for your answers. I have one more question I finally submitted my app but nursing cas calculated GPA and is very low ( this is at UM) but does the GPA calculated by nursing cast varies depending on the school that you apply to? Like would FIU, UM have different calculated GPA by nursingcas

In my experience, the past year of applying, no. Your nursing cas GPA will not vary because it will calculate every single grade from every single course you've taken, regardless if it is a course relevant to the program or not. Programs are aware of this and typically calculate your GPA themselves based on their specific requirements. I like to believe going through the process of entering each course and grade from every transcript and having it verified is just to validate that these grades are in fact true.
Don't be discouraged about your GPA on nursing cas because FIU gave me the GPA they calculated and it was much higher than what nursing cas calculated.

thank you for encouraging me. but I technically won't know until I apply right ? my nursing GPA is at 3.9 overall GPA calculated  3.4 but my science GPA is only a 2.9 which is crazy that's because I repeated some classes to get a better grade but yeah I feel like I barely meet the minimum requirement.

Same issue for me. I had a 4.0 in nursing school. Retook two of my science courses and my science GPA is calculated lower on nursing cas. I'm worried about the impact it will have on my application.
