Florida Hospital Orlando Now Offering INcentive Bonus for Overtime

Published

Now Florida Hospital Orlando is offering an "incentive bonus." If nurses will work overtime for 6 weeks with no call outs they will get 75 extra a day on the over time shift (plus the ot rate of course) and a 300 bonus at the end of the 6 weeks if there are no call outs.

I guess the nursing shortage and high call-in rate has finally caused them to offer this bonus. I just wonder if nurses will be interested. That is minimum 48 hours a week for 6 weeks. Very interesting.

That's it? By the time they tax that 300 bonus, you'll see about 170 of it. That hardly seems work it. The extra money from the OT is great, but if you can pick it up anyway...why bother with the 6 week contract?

Stupid. Hospitals in my area are offering double-pay and triple-pay on high census days. No contract. No rules.

What is it with the damn contracts these days? You can't just work and get paid anymore. There's always some cockamamie crap to deal with. Administrators must have too much time on their hands.

Its probably cheaper to offer these incentives than to hire more staff. There is no shortage of nurses in FL, they probably just don't want to pay to train new grad nurses. There could possibly be a slight shortage of EXPERIENCED nurses but it is probably still cheaper to just have your regular staff work extra during the busy season than to hire more staff.

At the hospital I work, during they busy season, they offer a similar incentive during the busy season. If you don't call out at all from December to April, you get a $1000 bonus, plus $200 extra for every extra shift you pick up plus the overtime.

They offer you mention doesn't sound so good to me.

I agree with what others have said. You can just pick up an extra shift for OT for so little a bonus. ORMC offers a better bonus and you also have more than one option. You can do one extra shift every week or every other week. I think you also have different length contracts.

I have actually worked the OT contract now for 4 months in a row. Its definitely worth it with the incentive extra pay. My check has practically doubled and im not sure I can go back to 3 days a week lol. Most weeks you get called off or put on call on your overtime shift but you still get the incentive bonus pay even.if you dont work overtime as long as you don't call out of any of your shifts. :)

We have a $250 per OT shift bonus right now regardless of whether you have call outs.

Can someone please tell me what the OT is at Florida Hospital? Is it a time and a half? I saw one commment at another tread that said 13% and I was surprised, I thought it was a federal thing to be a time and a half. I appreciate the response!
