florida to Canada

I am a LPN her in Florida but I do plan on moving to Canada. Would I be an LPN in Canada also and do I have to test again I planned on moving MTL, Qubec and is a LPN like a CNA there.

LPN's here are basically the same as LPN's in the U.S. There might be some variation in scope of practice though. CNA's here are usually called Resident Care Attendants, that is what I am training for.

As an LPN you will not be able to come to Canada on a TN visa, those are only for RN's. I don't think it will be easy to immigrate here, you would need to be sponsored and I don't see that happening, there is not a shortage of LPN's.

How fluent is your French??

Yes, you will have to test because the NCLEX is not recognized in Canada. Check the various colleges of nursing for info on US trained LPNs. Scope of practice vary from province to province.

Nursing Assistants are found in active treatment areas and continuing care. Their duties are very different from those of an LPN. In most provinces, the LPN is working to a very similar scope to the RN.

If you want to work in Quebec you need to be able to speak French fluently.
