Agree with the above. Also, and I'm making a guess/assumption here, it seems like if you would be unavailable to be on call then you are also not able to work shifts on those days? If that's the case then I would think that would affect a fair number of job opportunities as employers will likely not be quick to make you a scheduling guarantee of that nature, especially for a full time position.

Hello, I am a pre-nursing student. I am a first-year university student who aims to be a nurse, but I still am contemplating. How exactly does on-call work? I have duties to my family and know I cannot take on-call on Wednesdays or Sundays. Though, this does not mean I would deny all on-calls. Would this affect me? Would I be able to have certain negotiations within a contract?
