Fla licensure process after passing NCLEX!

Hi!

I'm a Canadian RN who has very recently passed the NCLEX-RN exam (yay!). The whole immigration process seems very complicated and confusing. I thought getting to the point of writing and passing the NCLEX was the biggest and most time-consuming challenge; but now I apparently need a SSN # in order to even receive my Fla license. When I read on the SSN gov't website, it mentions an I-94 form. When I spoke to a nursing recruiter today, I was told I need to go through the Visascreen process with CGFNS in order to even get a SSN and RN license (the SSN website made no mention of the Visascreen). AND, I've already gone through the CES via CGFNS to even get permission to WRITE the NCLEX; and the CES is exactly the same process as the Visascreen! (they evaluate the exact same things) I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on this final step for me; I hope I don't have another long wait ahead of me! And I REALLY hope I don't have to deal with CGFNS again, because they were AWFUL the first time around!! I don't recommend anyone using them if you can avoid it; they almost always provided me with the wrong info., and their customer service was more than TERRIBLE!

Any info. would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

Heya,

congrats for passing NCLEX.

Unfortunatly you have to deal with CGFNS again, since you will need the VISA Screen Certificate. If you go to their website it's all explained. You need that Certificate to be able to get a visa.

Normally Visa Screen goes faster though and smoother than all the other CGFNS Services.

Good Luck.

I presume you will be using the TN visa. Yes you will need to deal with CGFNS because you do need the VSC but they can use the documentation already received for CES and should only take about 4-6 weeks to get. You will not get your SSN until in the US on a valid work visa (TN) For TN visa you just need VSC and employment letter TN will be issued at the border and then you can apply for SSN. There are a few threads on Canadians applying to work in the US and the process they went through
