Santa Fe College ASN Class of 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Since we are no longer "hopeful applicants" it makes sense to have new thread for those of us starting classes in August. We can use this as a place to get/share info on the program, express our excitement about finally being bona fide nursing students, or just get to know each other.

A big :ancong!: to everyone who made it in! We all worked so hard to get here. I look forward to meeting all or some of you as we begin what I'm sure will be two very crazy years. :D

Yay, our own thread, thanks Tara!!!

So.........I like to make lists, here's one that's helping me:

Check List for ASN 2011 Program

Background Check/ Fingerprinting 6/28

Invitation Letter 6/28

Titers (Blood work) 7/18

TB Test 7/18

Immunizations: MMR, Varicella, Hep B, Td/Tdap 7/18

CPR Certification (American Heart Association Health Care Provider) 7/18

Physical/Health Form 7/18

Does anyone know where to take the CPR classes? I found one but I can't do it the day it's offered. I can't seem to find another one.

CPR classes are available at Santa Fe. I need to be re-certified so I'll be signing up for a class too.

Here's the link, you have to scroll down a bit.

Awesome, thanks!

They offer CPR at Express Training, UF CoM, the city of Gainesville (fire houses), American Red Cross, and Shands.

I just got my letter in the mail. Yay. Now to let my boss know. Does anyone know what the actual classroom hours are for the program? I noticed that all of the classes say 8-4 but they have different credit hour amounts. I have to start looking for another job now and knowing the hours would help.

Oh, since people were asking in the other forum I had a score of 85 or there abouts. I anticipate that the grading scale for the kaplan test will be changed for next year. Almost everyone maxed that section.

Does anyone have any info on the bsn bridge? I keep hearing rumors that it's going to happen but I never see it.

To introduce myself, I'm Jonathan. Congrats to everyone else out there and good luck to everyone applying next year.

I just noticed that the costs of almost everything, in the imformation packet, are way off. CPR is ~$55, the background check is $91, Hep B shots are ~$188 for the series, and I looked up the isbn # of the 'package' w/o a price, on amazon and it's ~$300.

Not complaining...........just getting money together.:vlin:

Congrats everyone! I received my letter last week, and I am still on an adrenalin high from being accepted!I have been straight-up stalking this forum and I've finally registered to post on it.

Does anyone know the class schedule?

Did anyone read the letter regarding netbooks/laptops being required for tests/class? I have a laptop but that beast is so big, I might as well carry my PC. Any suggestions for netbooks??

Thanks!:redbeathe -Kimberly

Hey Lauren! Congrats! From what I understand, we do not need blood work (titers) done if we have our immunization records. I do not. I went to my doc on Thursday and she wrote up an order for the blood work and gave me a tetorifice shot and PPD test. Insurance paid for everything.

Hi Lauren!

I think you have to get bloodwork done if you don't have proof of your vaccines. I'm getting blood work done today at the Health Clinic in Alachua, it will cost $27. I don't know where my shot records are, so I'd rather be safe than sorry. The blood work will, hopefully, show your antibodies which will be proof of the vaccines.

I'm so excited about fall, that I think my summer is going to disappear right before my eyes!!! I'm driving my husband crazy right now. When I have important things to do, I get a little OCD. ;)

Tara, did you sign up for a CPR class? I signed up @ SFC on 6/28. I just wanted to get it out of the way and the earlier classes were already full.
