Hi.. is there a five part examination in canada? Because I took it last oct. 10 and there are only 2 parts.. is there a 5 part canadian RN exam?
This is because I am planning to take the nclex in california.. and in the introduction there is a sentence that states "If you are licensed in Canada you must take the NCLEX-RN unless you have passed an acceptable five-part Canadian examination."
I've tried looking at the forums but I can't see anything..so anyone know what it is? thanks in advance.

Just 2 papers as far as I know. I expect that it is just one of those pieces of terminology that relates to the US,
I shouldn't worry too much, I am sure that one of the experts will clarify.
I took mine on Oct 10th also - best wishes for your results.

I am sure I have read somewhere on these forums that Canadians now have to take NCLEX regardless

Back in the late 80's we took a five part two day exam. We would get a numerical score, and then in some states, if your score was above a certain point they would give you a license without taking the NCLEX. After the long exam was replaced with the computerized (pass/fail) one the US required all applicants to take the NCLEX.
They are referring to the five part exam because there are still people out there who took it to get their initial registration, but it is no longer available for new grads.
