FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018

Published

Just wanted to start a thread on this upcoming admission cycle for FIU's accelerated nursing program. I just finished taking the TEAS for the second time and gathering all my materials to submit to FIU. Does anyone know if they're really competitive?? Bleh freaking out, my TEAS score is just a 71%, and gpa is avg.

Got my invite, I'm excited!

Anyone else today?

Yup! Seems like a bunch of people got their emails today.

Hey Ladies & Gents,

So for all who were invited to the interview did you hear anything back on the decision? I thought they said they would let us know this past Friday, I caught myself checking my e-mail every moment yesterday lol.

Has anyone heard anything?

Has anyone heard anything?

Hi Alle,

The interviews were conducted on Oct 17th and admission letters started going out on the 21st if I remember correctly. If you were at the interview day and haven't heard anything, I'd suggest reaching out to someone at the program to see what's up!

"the BSN Accelerated package, background check, drug screening without alcohol, fingerprints, employment verification (if you've ever been employed in the U.S.) and the immunizations."

So, it's way more than $180, I feel like I'm doing something incorrectly. Can I do it a-la-carte you think?

Also, anyone else completed anything? Care to give some idea of the process?

Does anyone's insurance cover titters and/or RE-immunizations?

From what I understand you have to order all the packages on Complio, which comes out to roughly $230. That price also includes your fingerprinting and drug testing, both of which you have to go out and do in person. As far as the titers and any boosters you might need, it's totally up to your insurance, so you should check your benefits. My coverage only pays for those if I get them done at my primary care, who I've never met b/c I just switched policies, so I elected to get it all done at FIU student health services instead. All of the titers plus a tdap and PPD test ran me $130, which me to isn't that horrible. They also give free flu shots!

Good morning, congrats on your accomplishments thus far! I've been following your thread. I wish you all the best in your nursing journey!! Being that you have experienced the application process, how would you advise to prepare for the interview portion?

Be clear on what you will bring to the program and what you want out of it. Why you want to be a nurse...and be friendly. There are several different people that perform interviews. You may end up with someone that is encouraging and sweet, Or you may end up with someone that questions your motivations harshly or gives analytical questions.

Good luck.

Try to show your confidence, and like LaAura said be clear about why you want to be a nurse. Something that helped us calm down about the interviews was that 38 people were invited for 30 slots, so you had an excellent chance of being selected.

LaAura, thank you very much for your feedback!

Woaw, I thought around 50-60 were selected for interviews. That's good to know. Thank you very much!
