Has anyone had to do through a psychiatric fitness for duty exam? I've been off on psych leave for awhile and they want one done before I go back.
thanks

I had a needlestick from a Hep C pt, which caused me to have a meltdown and small breakdown due to the circumstances surrounding it. I had to be cleared by a regular doc because of my stress level, which kept me off of work a couple of weeks. I just needed a clearance.
That's all I've ever had to do was give a release from my doc, but "new management" you know. I'm seriously considering a job change. The place I work for has changed so much it's like a totally different atmosphere you know? It's no longer the place I started at. I used to be proud, now I remove my name take before I leave and I just say I work in LTC, not where.
I ended up phasing out of my unit and into ICU. I needed a change and am much happier. Probably you just need a change.

I have had my share of "psych" issues and it generally came back to what the above poster states. Once I made the change I was much happier and didnt have those who knew hanging it over my head on a daily basis either.
