First year problem

Nursing Students General Students

I'm shortly going to start my first year as a student nurse, i'm thrilled to be starting soon as this is an area that i've always wanted to work in. Unfortunately feel that I may have jepodised this by, whilst at a festival and rather drunk, I dropped an E and then went on to smoke a small amount of marujana. I can't believe that I did it but now i'm scared stiff that I might get chucked off the course before I even get started.

I'm really not trying to dodge any bullets here I just want to know from those of you that have already started similar courses weither this will be tested for.

If you manage to get through this unscathed, take it with you as a good lesson learned. Good luck with all that.

My 2 cents: People make mistakes, and you knowingly, under your own power, made a big one. If you are going to move forward in nursing, you have to understand that mistakes of this kind are not acceptable.

I think enough people have beat you up over it - learn from this mistake. If nursing is what you really want to do, then go forward with that - but only if you're mature enough and responsible enough. Otherwise, no one wants you by their bedside.

Well, I certainly do not agree with what you did, and knowing you are 28 years old makes it worse! But, perhaps you had enough of a lashing and would be interested in knowing I never was tested as a student nurse--but they said if they suspected anything, then they would do it. So who knows what your school does. But I worry about you being a nurse and deciding you would benefit better from the patient's pain pill than they would....

Seriously though, I doubt you will make it. You don't seem to understand the difficult task and stress you are about to undergo. Stress that would make someone who doesn't do drugs WANT to do drugs!! My class started with 98 students and by the time we graduated there were 47. Nursing schools usually do a good job of weeding out the people not serious about it. Stop doing all drugs. That is the best advice for you.

Un-freaking-believable.

I hope you don't get a seat in the program. I'm sure there are many, many qualified students who are much more responsible and deserving of one than yourself.

Perhaps you should pursue other avenues as a potential career choice.

I'm not sure what you are/were trying to accomplish by starting this thread, but you get no sympathy from me.

I think you need to know exactly what you want and start acting responsible. Nursing is not just another job but something that people look up to . So if you get away this time please start acting more mature and responsible.
