StaRN program - quit during training

I need to start working ASAP and HCA's StaRN residency program seems to be my only option right now. I am still waiting to hear back from 2 other hospitals that I would much rather work for. I understand that I will need to sign a contract with HCA and commit to 2 years with them, but if I were to resign during the 12 week residency will I still need to pay the $10k? During this 12 weeks, I am not considered an HCA employee, I would be considered a non-exempt, temporary HealthTrust (3rd party) employee. The only reason why I would quit is if one of my preferred hospitals gave me an offer. I know, I know I should consult a lawyer regarding contracts, but I don't really have the funds to do that. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this or knew someone who was able to do this.

You should ask their HR that. I will say, from experience, do NOT sign a contract unless you are sure.

We're you ultimately able to quit during training?

I received a job offer from HCA, but I turned it down. Did you hear back from the other hospitals & land a position?
