I want a new preceptor? Help!!

Nurses New Nurse

I just started working in the hospital and i know that it is hard but i feel that my preceptor isn't helping me as much as i should be help. Not really helping me but just staying with me. I am always chasing her around. She also talks a lot about who knows what and even another nurse said she dosn't know how my preceptor gets things done because she talks so much. A friend of mine started at the same time as myself and she said that her preceptor is great. She just stays next to her but lets her do everything, mine just leaves me and the preceptor hunt continues. AAAhhhh! what should i do?

Speak to your preceptor if you feel she is approachable. Speak to your manager, educator as well.

Hey, ask anyone, I talk non-stop, but when I'm precepting someone, I give them my undivided attention.

Good luck in everything.

;) I'm sorry but you need to let your supervisor know that you are not receiving the kind of support from your preceptor that you think you need and explain to her that she is not meeting your professional needs in a professional way. You have to do this because if you don't your time will be up and you will not be prepared to be on your own. Its up to you to take charge of your own professional growth. Hope that helps!
