How are you studying?

Just wondering how those of you that are studying for the NCLEX are studying. I'm trying really hard, but I no clue where to begin. I took Kaplan so I think I may just listen to their lectures, follow along with their book, and do their question trainer CD. If I run across anything that I don't know I'll review it then. How about everyone else?

I did almost 1500 ?'s from Mosby's and Lippincott's. I don't think that I could have done anyting else to prepare. All I can say is that it was really hard. I just don't think there was really one right answer on most of the ?'s. The test turned off after 75?'s and all I can do now is wait. You know we are all in school for 2 years and if that can't prepare us for the NCLEX I don't know what can. Good luck everyone!! You CAN do it. :)

I did the online course. The video clips are about 30 hrs worth of lecture. They are very long and could get boring. But I just really have to push myself to sit and listen to them. I'm done with them. I probably went over the Kaplan course book about 3-4 times. Many say the Kaplan trainer CD is extremely hard. I'm getting 65-77% on it. Right now I'm going over the course book by myself, (just reviewing it by myself) Everything makes so much more sense now. In between I do questions from the Saunders Q & A CD. I will be taking my Boards on June 4th. I just keep praying and praying that I will not get nervous. I have to tell myself that I can do this.

Are you serious, was that a real question somewhere?

If you think you're going nuts now, just wait and see how you feel when you've taken the boards and are waiting on the results! Does anybody know the caloric value of fingernails?????

I am starting my clinicals this fall. I've already purchased an nclex-rn review book. I heard that it helps to review it through school by each section you're studying. Do you think this is going to be beneficial in the long run? Thanks

I also bought an nclex review book when I started nursing school. I think it was a great idea. If you read the rationales for the questions when you take the test you will learn so much as you study. It also helped me the last semester when we were required to do nclex practice tests and score an 85% or better. It was much easier for me than it was for some of the other students. You can't practice for the nclex enough.

Good luck with nursing school!!

Um, I think she's talking about biting her nails from being nervous. Get it? :chuckle

I took the NCLEX on Saturday. I knew all my lab values and didn't have a single question about them. I knew the cranial nerves too...nothing. One calculation appeared, but it was very simple. One newborn question. Lots of pharm...LOTS OF PHARM. But, again, everyone's test is so different. Kaplan's test-taking skills helped a lot...I hope. Won't know my results for at least 2 more days.

Sending positive vibes your way! I just finished Kaplan and am scheduled on June 16th. The day will come fast. Good luck!

Hey guys/girls

maybe you can help me. I finished my BSN last may, and have been back in school(finishing my second degree in bio with a minor in chem) Anyways, I am sooo worried about the boards. I am taking them June 14th. I started to read the mosbey book, and I read the Kaplan book about one month ago(it was just on how to answer the questions, ect) Is there anyone else who took and passed the boards so long after graduation? If anyone has any tips on how to brush up on everything can you let me know? Thanks so much:)
