Last week was my first week of school. I was wondering if anyone that has been in the program witnessed the fact that only a small percentage actually graduate with their class. The graduating class at my school only has 6 left out of 31. :uhoh21: The class a few months ahead of hours has 19 out of 31. In my class about 3 never showed up after orientation. There are 5 alternates that were actually attending class waiting for a spot.
It is really scary but I am way too determined to get my education and nursing degree!!!
I have to GO STUDY NOW.!!!!!:chuckle

I think a lot of it depends on the demographics of the student population and the schools admission policies. It seems to me that students who just don't show up for the first day of class weren't serious about going into nursing anyway. Most of the students going into community college and university programs will crawl over hot coals to get to the first day of classes. The way I would look at this is that as you progress through your nursing course and the numbers of students dwindle, a lesser number of students are going to get a lot of one-on-one attention from the instructors. That's a good thing for you. As long as you are in a state board of nursing approved nursing school, I would recommend that you just keep on with your studies and do your best so you can pass the state board exam and get your license to practice when you are through. Don't be discouraged by those that fell by the wayside. For some reason or another they just weren't cut out for nursing.

We lost 9 the first semester. I think that's kind of a weeding out semester for people that aren't serious about going into nursing. We lost I think 2 the second semester, and none the last. Most of the ones we lost were the younger, fresh out of high school students who I think just kinda wanted to be able to say they're a nurse and buy cute scrubs. (Not that all younger students are like that, but we had quite a few). It was us older ones that seemed to have a lot more riding on it. Nursing school is tough, and it takes a lot to get thru it. Just keep focused and work hard and you'll get there.
