Congrats! I'm currently at UCLA-Santa Monica. I'm living in West LA, at an apartment that's pretty much directly between UCLA-Santa Monica and UCLA-RR. I was lucky to find a furnished studio on Craiglist. Because LA traffic is crazy, it was important to me to live as close to the hospital as possible. Unfortunately I don't know much about the area, outside of where I live (West LA). Another traveler I met lives in a great apartment in Santa Monica. Has your agency told you where the housing would be if you take it, or are you taking the stipend for sure?

what agency are you guys with? I really want to work at UCLA next and am looking at companies that can get me there!

For your first assignment, its best to have the company house you. It's stress free and you don't have to worry about what you have to bring to your assignment if the company provides you the housing. Craigslist is a good way to find a place to sublet. Since you didn't mention traveling with family, it is easier and cheaper if you sublet with a roommate.
