I read on a different thread of yours that you graduated from a school outside of the US but couldn't find work there and you passed NCLEX on your first try 9 years later! Good job!
Make sure to dress your best (i.e. a suit) and be conservative in general. Arrive early. General advice here.
Be prepared for situational questions...what would you do if..? Remember to follow chain of command. You are not the police so if a coworker is doing something dangerous, you save the patient from harm and then go to your immediate supervisor. If you have customer service experience you can bring up a story about how you went above and beyond etc.
Also, be prepared to explain why you graduated 9 years ago and just passed NCLEX.
It is illegal for a US employer to ask questions about your health, marital status, how many kids you have, sexual orientation, or religion at an interview.
Research the hospital and find out how it stands out.
Be prepared to explain why you are interested in their facility and in that particular unit.
Have some questions for them...ask about length of orientation, nurse patient ratios, what they are looking for in a candidate. Do not ask them about pay.
If you are planning to become a nurse practitioner or CRNA don't mention this at the interview. If they ask you where you see yourself in 5 years, say things like orienting new staff, getting certification in xyz, being charge nurse, being a member of a couple committees etc.
Best of luck to you!
P.s. there are many people who have asked the same question as yours which you can find by using the search feature. One of our members TheCommuter, wrote up something about your very question. You can find a link here -->
