First job offer, advice please

Hi,

I just graduated with my BSN (yay for me!) - went on an interview last week, got an offer three days later (it's contingent on passing the NCLEX).

I can't think of any reason not to take this job. The hosp has a great reputation, it's a good location, it's the unit I wanted, I liked the NM, I liked the nurses I shadowed with, the money is above average for the area, the benefits are good, there's a 3-month preceptorship, and if I sign on within the next 2 weeks I get a $1500 bonus.

No place else that I applied has even called me, except one that requires all new nurses start for 6 months on nights, which I don't want to do.

I just feel a little afraid/nervous to take the job when I only interviewed at one place. Should I ask them to wait, and try to interview at other hospitals, or just jump in?

If you have done your homework and this is your first choice -- then consider yourself lucky and take it.

If you really think that another hospital in your area is going to offer you something better ... then you have a tough decision to make. If you turn this job down, what are the chances you will be happy with that decision in the long run? I suspect that you would regret it in the long run -- as this seems to be your first choice and you would always wonder, "What if ...?"

I would take it. Why risk not finding a better position (unless it was not a good place to work)
