Congrats! That is such a wonderful feeling :)
I did my first IV stick in the ICU, too. The patient was completely aware and the RN I was following told me she normally doesn't let students do IV's (why I don't know, because she was letting me do everything else that day!) but she had me try and I got it in on the first try :) I felt even better when the patient told me I did a good job because they could barely feel it!

I did my first IV stick today! Since I started nursing school, I've been afraid I wouldn't be able to start an IV but my first try was perfect!
Afterward, my BS dropped and I think it was due to the rush of excitement combined with nervousness. But I'm happy that I was able to get a successful stick.
