First interview tomorrow

Published

I just graduated on May 6, and took my NCLEX (& passed, YAY) on on Friday. I have my first interview tomorrow at 10. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any ideas what kind of questions that I should be preparing for, when do we discuss salary, etc.?

varies depending on the hospital and nursing manager

They basically asked me why i chose that Hospital, where do you see yourself several years from now (career), other than that no real nursing related questions to my knowledge but the Nursing manager was very relaxed so he just wanted to know more about me personally to see how i would fit it. HR asked me to "recall a difficult situation and how I handled it, strengths/weaknesses, why should we hire you." You should probably ask about New Grad orientation, work environment, education and training opportunities (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CEN, Tuition assistance etc).

I'm sorry if this is a little late! Know about the hospital (mission statement, goals). Think about difficult situations in which you have been part of (ie. in clinicals) and how you've reacted to it - behavioral type questions (very popular). And think about some scenarios and how you'd react to it (chest pain, etc) I've had interviews that were strictly behavioral type and interviews with a few scenarios, depends on who is interviewing you! Preparation is key! Good luck! :cat:
