I am also at the Orlando campus, we did our EKG class in the begining of July and are getting ready to go onthe floor this coming week :)

I also received my ASN in Miami. I haven't done BSN yet but I just relocated for my first position because I didnt wanna be in Miami anymore lol. To get a job in Miami you need to network, be on top of the recruiters, go to open houses (Mt Sinai has one every 1st Tuesday of the month - this information is on the website) and you actually get to meet the nurse recruiter, even if they say experienced only still go, sometimes they will tell you of new grad programs. HCA has a new grad program called staRN but down in Miami it is not highly advertised because the competition is fierce. It's probably going to be a little tougher because you're not from the area but persistance is key and it is possible! As far as online RN-BSN programs online, Miami Dade has a program and the plus is that it is pretty cheap, I think FIU does too. Nova's and UM's will probably be way more expensive. Good Luck!!

I haven't heard of UM hiring a lot of new grads lately and when I did clinicals there last year they said they usually prefer to hire new grads from UM school of nursing. On the other hand, Mount Sinai will hire new grads onto the OR and other floors (depending on need); however, they don't seem to have a lot of appreciation for their employees and experience high turn over rate (but as new grads we need to take what we get!)

I spent $0 after I was done with school. Our school gave us Kaplan and also provided an ATI content review. I only did Kaplan's question trainer and I loved the content review with ATI (Kaplan's was soooo boring) and didnt think ATI's questions were helpful at all (too easy - mostly content based not application and critical thinking like NCLEX). The reason why I think I passed with 75Qs- i didnt over think! I used to read answer choices and think well it could be A if so and so and so. But b also if this and that. This will cause you to pick wrong answers. Read what is in the question and not into it!

At the end of the day if something happens to that patient, the RN is still accountable. RNs delegate but they are responsible for the work they delegate because they are overseeing care for that patient. At least that's how I see it.

I am the same way! My body constantly fights with me to stay awake at night, so night shift is perfect for me. I'm not an introvert per se but I am very focused on my work so night shift also helps me stay focused on my patient without the extra distractions from day shift!

IDK much about the topic but you should look into Nurse Licensure Compact in the NCSBN website about the multistate license. I'm not quite sure how it works but it sounds like something that could be beneficial to you

mmmm about a month for the offer, two weeks for the first HR call. It was a long process, I'm guessing you applied to the August program?

I already relocated from Miami to Orlando! I already like it a lot more, less traffic, less rent money, and I live 25 mins from Disney World . Other options would be Denver, CO or Boston

That is how it was at my last job (not as an RN but at a hospital), so what I did was that I requested to work the night before the holiday and the night of, I don't know if that is an option for you.
