First Flu Victim's Family Intends to Sue City

"Bonnie Wiener, the widow of the flu victim, Mitchell Wiener, and their three sons, Adam, Jordan and Farrell, served a "notice of claim" to the city on Aug. 5, charging that the city had failed to react quickly enough to the swine flu outbreak at Intermediate School 238 in Hollis, Queens, where Mr. Wiener worked.

The claim, a precursor to a lawsuit, charges that the city failed to warn Mr. Wiener that he had been in contact with people who had tested positive for the virus; that it did not act fast enough to stop the transmission of the disease; that it did not disseminate adequate information about health conditions that would increase the risks of the virus; and that it did not provide a safe working environment for Mr. Wiener and other school employees, among other allegations.

The notice of claim says the family will seek $40 million in the suit."

Interesting, I would expect similar lawsuits from family members of pregnant women who are not removed from high risk situations. This would include nurses and teachers.

I could see employers approaching people with releases. "If you don't sign you can't work here" sort of thing.

Yep, they also plan to give an un tested vaccine to pregnant women, 2 doses in fact.

Yea....I'm gettin' in line for that.

I wonder how many will die from that bit of folly.
