Good luck! If you put 100% of your self going into the test, you can be confident and hopefully relaxed enough during the test to think clearly and own that test. Well, it works for me anyway :D

Well I had them and I was soooo nervous. I did not really do much... I

was sooo scared to help dress some of the clients that were stiff and in pain.

How long did it takee you to get use to toileting and bowel care? Its such a personal thing....

I found it easier when there family was around because I could see what they liked to talk about and such...

I hope I start to get use to it all! I wish we had more then a week to get usse to it... We do have our 4 week clinical but that is not untill november/december....

Ahhh Sorry it feels good to talk about this in a group of people that do the samethings

...I made that sound like I was done... I have only done the first day!

Congrats on surviving your first practicum! This stuff is really the basic essentials of life. But they feel so foreign because they involve such personal matters if you're not used to it. Once you get some practice under your belt, you'll get the hang of approaching and handling such sensitive matters.

Here's a huge hint though: you'd be surprised how far a genuine smile and a listening ear will get you with your patients. Before you know it, you won't need their family support to build that relationship and trust. Lastly, remember that these individuals are someones mother, father, sister or brother. Them as if they were your own family and I'm sure you will make an awesome provider.

I realize it may sound like I'm rambling, but I've had plenty of wine tonight. So too bad, you get to listen to it :p

Let us know how you do! Good luck with the rest of it!

I was paired up with a better woman today. She kinda pushed me to do care which was a huge help.

I was with a different set of clients today. They were just was colorful as the first ones I was placed with.

We are doing our DAL practicum right now. I got placed on a dementia unit because its the most like DAL that they have. I cant wait to do the acute care Practicum to kind of compare and contrast.

it can be scary first time, I was more nervous first time; but now I guess the scene is more better in sync with myself in a nursing home
