First Drill

Can other people tell me what their experience was?

I am attending my first drill this weekend (Army Reserve), but only on Saturday, as Sunday is a family picnic and I am not required to attend.

I have no uniforms and am unsure what to wear or do.

I am a bit clueless, as I was told last minute that I would need to attend this weekend as opposed to next month's drill.

Also still hoping that I can switch from bonus to STRAP, I do not want to miss that opportunity.

That and the earlier post by someone about being too late to get your LRP made me a bit nervous!

Have a great weekend!

Hi LtliRed,

I attended my first B.A. on Aug 1-3rd. Wow, that was wild. We were going for a 3-day weapon practice/qualification a few hours away.

I had my ACUs, but my cap was too small. Little did I know this was a huge, big deal. So, I wore a borrowed beret and stood out like a sore thumb. The first of many, many mistakes.

Luckily, there were a few other new rns and one nurse with no prior experience--like me. Neither of us had been to OBLC. So, we stumbled through everything.

Now at least, when I go to OBLC (Oct 31st), I will won't be completely bewildered, after a few months of B.A's.

Also, I learned that paying extra for good boots is very important. I returned my cheap set --after getting horrendous blisters in the hour! Happily there was a good PX there.....
