So tomorrow is my first day and I am nervous. During orientation and CPR classes we got to meet some of the student's who will be in our class. My best friend had told me to make sure to find a good study buddy while in school (she went through the same course 7 years back) as this will make things a lot easier.

Does anyone else have any tips?

Good luck! I was there just last month and I know EXACTLY how you feel. My advice would bve tyo not get caught up in the politics...FOR REAL! I always heard that before i started and now I know what everyone meant! You would think you're back in high school!

Sit back and enjoy...you will be VERY stressed 90% of the time and a little overwhelmed but you will also have an amazing time and LOVE what you are learning. I can't tell you how much I enjoy our lectures (even if I appear to be asleep!).

Last but not least, it is a good idea to get a study buddy, but only if that person is as diligent and determined a student as you...the last thing you want is to be stuck tutoring someone with the amount of work you will have to be doing! Or end up chatting and giggling away your precious study time!

OH! I know I said i was done but this is important...It is okay to lean on your friends in NS, but don't let them be your crutch..you never know if they'll be there the next day! Harsh but true...the only person you should rely on is you..you got yourself into the program and only your name will be on your license the day you walk out so make the most of it!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Don't be too quick to find a study buddy. Reserve your judgment. Too many stories of people getting locked in to studying with kooks they can't get rid of floating around on the forums.

Thank you both very much!!!

It's funny you said not to pick a study buddy to quickly as my fiance told me to go sit in the back of the class for the first two weeks and try to get a feel for the other students who are in the class before picking a study buddy. He said this way I will know what the other students or like and will not get stuck with someone who is not fully there for the education.

I am 32 and a single mom, this is it, and I plan to make the most of it and make sure that I do well. I guess this is one of the major reasons I am so nervous.

On a good note I have had everything ready that I need for the first day packed and ready to go for three days now! lol

Oh good luck! I started in August and dont envy that first day feeling but you'll do just fine. Study partners are great if that is the best way for you to study. I agree with the advice to wait it out on finding one though. Never, never study with someone who is not on the same ummm, errrrr, (looking for a tactful way to say this) intellectual level as you. You will spend your time explaining things and they will bring nothing to the table themselves. So be careful and chose wisely. In the beginning you may just make it a casual "one time" thing and see how that goes before committing.

I have the best study buddy in the world and wish I could share her with everyone. We met during pre-reqs and we both have the same value system as far as studying.....no chit chat, just study. We take announced breaks for 15 minutes so we can chit chat but other than that we are both on the same page. Its awesome. I truly hope you find yourself a "judie", everyone should have one. LOL

Good luck and don't be nervous, you're walking into a new chapter in your life that only you can write, it will be great!!!

Depending on how your instructors are, I would say, be careful not to stand out at first and don't latch onto anyone right in the beginning. First impressions aren't always accurate.

Wow what a day!! Nothing like I expected at all. We spent the morning basically going over everything we went over in Orientation then come after lunch we pretty much jumped right in.

Tonight I spent the last 4 hours doing my homework. I am envious how a lot of you are so far and were able to do it. We had a 30+ page chapter to read and a workbook to complete. The workbook doesn't really match the book so its a bit hard because the terminology used in the book to the workbook is not the same.

But I finally did it all, I am utterly exhausted and wondering how some of you single moms are doing it. If it wasn't for Pizza Hut tonight I don't think I would have ever managed to get it all done and get to sleep on time!

1 day closer to my goal :D

Geez... your first day sounds hectic! I cant wait for mine! I hope I can study with a 6 yr old and 1 yr old running around, lol! :chuckle

Good luck with school!
