I am currently a nursing student at my local community college, and will be starting my first clinical rotation at Kasier in Panaroma City. The only thing is I have no idea what to expect!! my clinical instructor was supposed to e mail me some papers regarding orientation but have not received it. I would just like to know what is the step by step procedure once a first time nursing student as myself would expect to undergo once I show up. will there be just verbal meeting? packages to be filled out? drug screening on spot? Should I prepare myself to be overcome the nervousness and this anxiety of stepping into this setting? Please if anybody has been there for clinical or have had some experience as a nursing student there, please give me some insight because I basically have no paper work as a guide... what is going to happen the first day?

During my clinicals at various different hospitals, I didn't have to do drug screenings on the spot.
You should e-mail your clinical instructor to get the forms filled out. Usually, it's HIPAA stuff. Sometimes, it's paperwork to get your student nurse badge. It really depends on the clinical sites.
On the first day of actual clinicals, we usually had a scavenger hunt to familiarize ourselves with the new unit.
Good luck! Don't stress to much. Be a sponge and learn! Be prepared each clinical day.

Our school went to Kaiser also and they have some MAJOR orientation work that needs to be done for IDs and such. I would be on the instructor to find out what is going on. That first day may just be replaced by all the orientation work. I never went there, but some friends did and they had to watch videos and do tests on their own time.
