Bad day here. I am/was about to begin my orientation as a new grad and I couldn't produce any urine for the pee test. I even asked if they could straight cath me rather than just report refusal to void. I am going to talk to HR tomorrow and see what, if any, options I might have, but I was told by the working RN that they would simply say they "don't reccomend me for hire d/t refusal to complete urine test". I've always been really pee shy, but come on bladder, this was my number one choice of place to work and my career!!! Anyone else have an extremely shy bladder? How about to the extent that you lost a job over it???

From Nurse430+yrs: Personally, I find it ridiculous that you were "let go" on the first day for not being able to micturate.
Look at it this way: if this is the way the organization handles situations--perhaps it's best it happened now and not a year from now or two years from now. Don't let this experience stop you from seeking work from a great place. By the way, my suggestion is you document what happened--date, time, place and including the nurses comments of what they"would simply say"...If you ever need to prove your innocence you have it documented.
