I am trying to get my CNA license to put towards my application for the ADN program for fall at CCSN, the deadline is June 1st and until now the BoN has not received my fingerprints yet. I did them well over 4 months ago knowing that it would take a while. I was really hoping on using the credential towards my application but it looks like it's not going to happen. Does anybody know if I can call the criminal records place? I have a squeeky clean record, so I know that's not the case, unless of course somebody borrowed my fingers as I slept unknowingly one night. Will I be able to request them to expedite it? It's so frustrating, I just don't understand why it's taking so long when I've never done anything criminal in my life--is that so unbelievable for them?! I know people who have been convicted of "things" who's fingerprints have cleared already....sheesh. Anyways, Thanks for any info!

I would definitely call and figure out what is taking so long. I have heard from others that Nevada is notorious for being slow when it comes to finger printing, but 4 months seems a tad ridiculous.
So I got to talk to about 4 different people from the Criminal History Repository and the BoN in Reno and in Las Vegas and turns out that they had received my fingerprints at one, the letters were sent out from another and it was all a misunderstanding, but they were all super nice. The moral: It never hurts to go digging for your own information that is pertinent to your future! I'm so glad the people at the BoN were nice, that just makes me glad that I am choosing a career where the people at the state board actually do care about us.
Thats awesome that you were able to speak to someone about this, and get it figured out! I've only had one encounter with the BoN and it was a very negative experience. To make a really long story short, I had called the BoN when I first moved to Nevada 2 years ago to get a list of all the certified CNA programs in Southern Nevada (I didn't know they were online and wanted to do a CNA program before my BSN), and when the lady heard my voice (I am a male) she immediately asked, "is this for your girlfriend or sister?" and I told her it was for me. After that she wasn't so friendly and said she would send it out. Needless to say, I never got the package. Apparently she wasn't open about males entering the nursing profession.
Uhhh that totally sucks! Most people this day and age really encourage male nurses. In my Sociology class we talked about how men in female dominated fields tend to succeed more than females. Maybe this lady had that stuck in her head. I hope I wasn't just lucky with the nice people. It's a turn off if the state board in your field is rude, you know what I mean.
