You don't need to be fingerprinted to apply for NCLEX, but you might need to do so for the Board of Nursing where you are applying. When you send in your paperwork to the California BON, they will send you paperwork that explains how to schedule an appointment and pay to be fingerprinted. Contact the California BON if you have questions about this.
When you go to take the NCLEX, they will take scans of your fingerprint and palms, but these are only to verify your identity when you enter the test center. You don't have to pay any extra fee to Pearson VUE for this.
hi, I am mind boggling how to apply for fingerprint for nclex, and how to pay the fee for???I am living in Kuwait and I am applying for nclex in California....
Do you have a US SSN and have you already applied to the CA state Board for licensure because that is what you are applying for not NCLEX? NCLEX is just a part of that process. Fingerprint card is usually sent by the state BON on request
All nurses who are licenses in Calif must have a live scan or other finger prints submitted to the BON. If a nurse was licensed before the fingerprint requirement, they will have to submit fingerprints before renewing their license. There is more info at:
