Hello!
I received the Nursing Corps scholarship this year and am trying to proactively find facilities that fulfill the requirement of HPSA scores of
Could any one who has gone through this process give any recommendations! I am willing to relocate. Even if there is no simple answer to the poor website design, it would be most appreciated if folks could list facilities that they know are eligible.

A few months ago, during a webinar for Nurse Corps scholars, we were encouraged to send requests like yours directly to the HRSA through your portal/account. Many people called/wrote in with questions like yours and the people from the HRSA kept saying they were willing to help, but just required a written inquiry.
Just wondering, where are you getting that the scoring has not been updated since 2010? When looking at the site, all the listings I get for any random state and county chosen show "Data as of 1/1/2015" at the bottom. I'm also curious about your assumption that the lists are not comprehensive. Why would the data collected not be shown in its entirety? Are you basing your comment on the fact that some of the entities listed do not specifically include "satellite sites"? If so, all you have to do is look online for the name of the site granted the HPSA score (from the list) and look at their locations and potential job listings. Sorry to sound like captain obvious I am just trying to be helpful. I can totally sympathize with being frustrated with the process as all my dealings with the HRSA and this scholarship have been anxiety provoking. I would encourage you to not unnecessarily add to the stresses you already face in school by trying to fiddle with the HRSA website at the moment. Maybe just focus on school for now and keep checking in and looking at the HRSA website over the semesters until you become more familiar with its quirks and will know what to expect when it comes time to find that job.

I spoke to someone through the portal inquiring about the Bureau of prisons and they told me that the BOP is no longer eligible...even though it is a high need area that they still have on the HPSA locator site....so i totally get your frustration alannack!!

When did they say this changed about BOP and did they say why?
No they did not say why...I wish the nurse corps had their own job site portal instead of just referring scholars to the NHSC site or the basic HPSA locator, because there are slight differences for the two programs. I went back in the nurse corps guidelines pdf that they have online and it does say that correctional facilities are ineligible for payback, along with a few other places.
I just spoke with them and the BOP is not eligible for the nurse Corp loan repayment. The BOP is an eligible site for the national health service Corp loan repayment and has an HRSA score of 12. I think that is the confusion. I'm an NP and would apply for the NHSC loan repayment program. Whew! I just accepted a position at USP ATL BOP.
Congratulations! (: Good luck with your new position!

I completely agree that the whole process is so confusing and the search tools are absolutely terrible. There has to be an easier way for them to list this information for us.
An older document states that you have to go through 3 search phases to figure out if a site is eligible: searching by address, then searching by city and state and some other odd number i can't think of right now (maybe the census number?), and lastly doing a facility search. However, in the most recent webinar they made, it only covers the first 2 search phases. This makes a huge difference! For example, the hospital that I want to work in does not show up in the facility search, but the geographical area it is in shows up in both the 1st and 2nd search phases with an eligible score of 17. So now I have no clue if it counts or it doesn't? I'm going to ask for help through the portal, but welcome any advice from those with experience. Thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm right there with you guys with frustration. Even when I find an eligible facility, they have no NURSE corps points of contacts at the site, so being in the DMV area I'm applying along with thousands of other new grads. I have accepted a position at the hospital I do my clinical at, but it is not a qualifying facility, even though they are severely understaffed and in desperate need of nurses. So yes, this whole process is very frustrating, I'm hoping to work at this non qualifying facility while continuing the job search for qualifying facilities.
Does anyone remember, do we have 6 or 9 months to find a job at a qualifying facility? What happens if I put in thousands of applications and i'm not hired? I know they say the scholarship will have to be paid back but there has to be some kind of exceptions if your putting in every effort to find a job but have no luck
